A special thank you to everyone that braved the single-digit temperatures, double-digit wind chills and white-out conditions on I-90 for the Wine Country Bookstore’s Fireside Chat at the Lodge in Geneva-on-the-Lake state park this past Sunday.

A tip of the Buzzard’s wing to Jim and Jane Miller from the Wine Country Bookstore, Robin Klipp from The Lodge and Conference Center in the Geneva on-the-Lake state park, and Sage Satori and Jim Ales from North Coast Voice magazine for coordinating the event.

We had some former grand prize winners of WMMS contests, which were mentioned in The Buzzard book and it was great to see Jerry Busch, whose band had a number of regional hits on WMMS in the seventies and eighties. Today, Jerry has a B&B in Geneva on-the-Lake.

Some brought rare merchandise from the glory days of WMMS.

As I like to say…rock and roll is our fountain of youth! We haven’t aged a day in our minds.

If your travels take you to Northeast Ohio this spring or summer, make a detour off I-90 to Route 534 and head north to visit the family owned and operated Wine Country Books. Then continue on to Geneva on-the-Lake State Park.

No one’s saying it’s Napa Valley – but this region boasts more wineries per square mile than in any other and is home to over half of the wine-grape acreage in the state.

The Ashtabula Star-Beacon covered Sunday’s event. You can read their review here:
